Kurt Purdom, Deputy Commissioner
Kurt Purdom was named a Deputy Commissioner of the Texas Department of Banking on November 20, 2018. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Purdom served for 11 years as the Director of Bank and Trust Supervision for the Texas Department of Banking. In this role, he was responsible for oversight of the largest division in the agency, the Bank and Trust Division, which supervises commercial banks, offices of foreign banks operating in Texas and trust companies. In addition to retaining oversight of this division, Mr. Purdom will also be responsible for overseeing the Corporate Activities and the Information Technology Divisions of the agency. Mr. Purdom also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Education Foundation of the Conference of State Bank Supervisors.
He has over 37 years of experience in the regulation and supervision of financial service providers and has held a number of other positions with the Texas Department of Banking, including Field Examiner, Review Examiner, Regional Director and Director of Strategic Support. He has served on several committees with Conference of State Bank Supervisors and is a past Chairman of the Performance Standards Committee.
Mr. Purdom is originally from Angleton, Texas, and is a graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance. He is also an honors graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado and a graduate of the Governor’s Executive Development Program. He is married and has two daughters.
