Install Law & Guidance
Manual on Your Desktop
Please Uninstall Previous Versions –
Any previous version on your computer must be uninstalled in order for the new installation to work.
To check for previous versions of the Law Manual, go to Control Panel and find Programs.
The Law Manual will be shown as
the Texas Department of Banking - Law & Guidance Manual.
Select this program to Uninstall.
Install September 2012 Version –
Select the icon or
link at the bottom of this page.
Select the Save button from the File Download box.
When download is complete select the Open button.
Double Click the Setup.exe — Application file.
Install Shield Wizard will appear.
Click Next.
Click Yes to agree to the End User License Agreement.
The Choose Destination Location Screen will appear. No need to change the
file location so Click Next.
Click Install. (Be patient, it may take a minute to let
you know it is installing)
When Install is complete, click on Finish.
Minimizing windows may be necessary to see the desktop icons.
A generic icon may appear on your desktop labeled Texas Department.
Double click on the Icon to open the Law Manual. This is
a little different format than the web version however all navigation
is still performed on the left side of the screen.
After you reboot the Blue/Grey Icon in the shape of Texas that
appears below will appear on your desktop.
Problems with Install –
If the installation did not work, check to make sure that a previous version
is not already on your computer. See Uninstall Previous Versions above.
If
this does not correct the problem, please contact the Department of Banking’s Technical
Support.
