Employees Retirement System

Annual Leave

Full-time employees accrue 8 - 21 hours per month depending on the years of State service.

Longevity Pay

Longevity pay is provided to all full-time employees who are not on leave without pay the first workday of the month and who have at least two years of lifetime service credit with the State of Texas. Eligible employees receive $20 per month for every two years of State service credit up to and including 42 years of service.

Sick Leave

Full-time employees accrue 8 hours of sick leave per month.

Holidays

Full-time employees are entitled to 8 hours of paid leave, as set by the State Legislature, for most major State and Federal holidays.

Compressed Work-Week

Field examiners enjoy the benefit of a compressed work-week and other staff may have the option of working this schedule. Staff working the compressed work-week, work a 9-hour day Monday-Thursday, and an 8-hour day on Friday and enjoy a three-day weekend every other week. The Lubbock office generally works a 10-hour day, four-day work week.

Casual Dress

Staff may dress in business casual attire when working in the agency’s offices, except on days when major public meetings are scheduled.

Workers Compensation Insurance

All employees are covered by Workers Compensation for job-related injuries or illnesses.
